Mendix For Engineering And SAP Integration
We build Mendix app landscapes for engineering and energy companies, connected to SAP. Our team has built more than 140 apps for Enexis, a Dutch regional grid operator.
Most of these companies already have enough apps. But the hard part is getting them to work together.
Nobody Owns The Whole Picture
SAP sits in the middle. Around it are years of one-off tools: an old database, a supplier’s field app, a few spreadsheets. Each has its own login and its own idea of what an asset is.
You’ll recognise it. For example, changing one master data field takes weeks of checking what else uses it. A field engineer carries two devices because the work-order app can’t show the asset history.
What Is A Mendix App Landscape?
A Mendix app landscape is many apps on one platform, sharing the same data, login and standards. A small team can know the whole portfolio, instead of a different supplier behind every screen.
It also gets more valuable as it grows. Security is set once, upgrades run across all apps, and less knowledge leaves when someone does.
How Does Mendix Integrate With SAP?
Mendix has its own SAP connectors and uses the interfaces SAP already offers, such as OData, BAPIs and IDocs. Your app reads the data it needs and writes results back, while SAP stays the system of record.
The connector is the easy part, though. The real question is what belongs in SAP and what belongs in an app next to it. An app that runs one department’s process can go live long before an SAP change request gets its turn.

Engineering Apps We’ve Built On Mendix

Enexis
Energy and utilities
Our team has built more than 140 Mendix apps for Enexis, most of them connected to SAP. Nobody approved a 140-app programme. Instead, it grew one app at a time over more than 10 years, on one platform with one set of standards.

CARU Containers
Logistics
CARU Containers sells and leases shipping containers. We built them a full custom ERP on Mendix, then moved the whole business onto it in 10 months.
Start With The One Everybody Works Around
You bring the spreadsheet SAP won’t replace, or the integration that fails often enough to have its own group chat. Then we’ll tell you straight what a first app would take.
